Author Charlie Renne with A Truck Fell On Me.

Well my very first book has now been published. I figure it must be pretty good. After all, the first publisher I submitted it to want to publish it. Check out 'A TRUCK FELL ON ME'. It can be purchased through amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com, Target.com and other on-line book stores. The book is about a near fatal accident I was involved in. As the title suggests, a truck actually fell on me. Right across my lap. I missed being a pancake by about six inches. While the book was written in a light hearted manner, it does also touch on some pretty serious subjects such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder complete with graphic flashbacks and even suicidal thoughts. I also had an out-of-body-experience. Check out the pictures. Sorry they are in black and white. I hope to eventually have the color photos on my space.

Barbara Eden. Okay so she's 70 something now. Who cares. She'll always be ingrained in my memory like when I was a teenage boy. I would like to talk with anybody interested in my experiences. I am a survivor of life. The Grim Reaper has tapped on my shoulder 4 times. Each time he was sent packing. On one occasion, I even had an out-of-body experience. Also want to meet other authors, publishers, book reviewers and literary agents. I wish to make friends with as many firefighters, EMTs and law enforcement officers as possible. I owe my life to their brothers and sisters that came to my rescue on November 6, 1998. I owe my freedom to the men and women of our armed forces. Therefore I want to ask that they and their families also consent to be my friends. We as American owe them all a big thank you.

Charles Renne was born and raised in Kansas. His writing skills were honed while working toward a Communications degree at Wichita State University. After graduating in 1983, he began his professional writing career as an advertising copywriter. Other vocational achievements include marketing, broadcasting and managing a customer service department. Drawing on his own life experiences, he has created two narrative non-fiction works of literature. Charles has a unique way of viewing life. While being rescued following a near fatal automobile accident, he was cracking jokes with the EMT's and other would be rescuers. Even with a truck laying across his legs, he was able to find humor in life. The accident and subsequent recovery encouraged him to produce a book entitled, 'A TRUCK FELL ON ME' (Publish America…2007). He has also completed one fictional novel as well as another non-fictional book. That work, entitled 'MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY:
Do Not Attempt This At Home', is his account of living with MD.
Though his accident was severe, it has actually allowed Charles to pursue writing on a full time basis. He also takes time to lecture for various groups including civic organizations, book clubs and rehabilitation facilities.
In 2005 and on his fiftieth birthday, Charles was married in El Dorado, Kansas. He and his wife, Mary Ellen, live in a cozy country cottage with three cats and one dog. His hobbies include yard work, feeding birds, photography and backgammon.

    Synop:

    A TRUCK FELL ON ME
    By Charlie Renne

A Truck Fell On Me is more than a story of survival. It chronicles my desire to live life to the fullest.
I began my venture to fulfillment the moment a truck smashed into a bridge which caused it to fall through my Bonneville and come to rest across my lap. The truck bed was just inches in front of my face. My car's steering wheel was driven through my right thigh. The roof of my car was squished down on my head which caused me to fold like an accordion. The next thing I knew, there was a voice telling me I was going to be okay. It was a member of the heavy rescue squad. Little did I realize the prophecy of that man would take eighteen months to come to fruition. Not only did his prediction come true, but I was even better than before the 10,000 pounds of iron tried to crush my body.
During my rescue the pain became so unbearable my inner being left my body. I found myself watching the rescuers along with the crowd on the side of the road. That out-of-body experience along with the graphic flashbacks caused by my bout with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) led me to believe I had actually died in the accident. For one and a half years I fought to figure out if I was dead or alive.
My recovery entailed a variety of challenges. Among them were two operations. The first saved my life, the second one nearly destroyed my life. The thought of that surgery caused me to plunge into the dark crevices of my mind where only PTSD can flourish. Depression enveloped my life. Thoughts of suicide were constantly in my mind. The persistent pain served to enhance my feelings of doom.
Everyday of my recovery presented me with more obstacles. The grueling physical therapy which taught me to walk again caused the pain to increase while at the same time intensified my mental anguish. Meanwhile, since I was unable to work, my financial situation spiraled downward. There were thousands of dollars in medical expenses and my creditors called repeatedly demanding their money. To top things off, an already rocky marriage was pushed to the breaking point..
Eventually my mind and body did begin to heal. The process was very slow and agonizing. Seconds seemed like days. Days resembled months. Yet through it all, it was my sense of humor and my deep seated appreciation of life which were the driving forces behind my recovery. A truck smashed my body yet I refused to let it to conquer my spirit.
A Truck Fell On Me was published by PublishAmerica and released in May of 2007. The ISBN is 1424149010 and is available through most dot com outlets including Amazon, Target and Barnes & Noble. The word count is 43,000.

Book Cover Designer and Award Winning Author Debi DeSantis

My name is Debi DeSantis and I am originally from the Philadelphia area and moved to Florida in 1991 where I now live in West Palm Beach with my husband and young son, who absolutlely amazes me and if it wasn't for him there would be no Spongebob in my life.  I also have a daughter that is in college and is hoping to be a wedding planner. I adore my entire family and love spending time with them; which there never seems to be enough of. I truly love it in Florida, it's nice living so close to the beautiful beaches and the turquoise colored water, while watching the palm trees sway in the breeze.
I have to honestly say though,  I really miss the Philadelphia soft pretzel, South Philly cheese steak and tea biscuits(sweet biscuits with raisins) I can't forget the cream dried beef on white bread....yum

Besides writing I also am interested in the Criminal Justice field and doing anything that involves being creative. I make gourmet gift baskets and design my own beaded jewelry when I have extra time (which is not very often).
I love writing and it takes up hours and hours of my day. I rarely change out of my PJ's and usually have bed head. My husband calls it my "Secret WIndow" time. (for those of you who saw the movie, just picture me insead of Johnny Depp and there you go.)
At times I think my husband is jealous of the time that I dedicate to my work and being on the computer, but in the end he is very supportive and proud of me. This is not a 9-5 job and almost every night I am sitting in my comfy chair listening to the T.V., numb butt an all, and the clock reads 12am. Its not just the writing but surfing the web to find sites to put the books on and promote, send out books for reviews and participating in chats and online interviews and updating my website, just to name a few. Its not glamorous, but its fun and I can't imagine doing anything else.
Travel is my vice; my escape from the real world and my "Utopia" which contributes to some of my poetry and writing choices. My
family and I have been to the most spectacular places....Italy, Austria, Germany, Ireland, England and almost every island in the Caribbean. My travels have served as a backdrop for some of my stories with the hopes of taking my readers to places that they may have not been before.
My ideal dream would be to live in Northern Italy, in a small town called Bolzano which is located just below the alps. It is genuinely captivating, peaceful and truly overwhelming. It is a place that simply took my breath away, there are no other words to describe it. Not to mention the food was great and so was the chocolate. Perhaps living on a hillside overlooking a vineyard, or on an island just swinging in a hammock under a palm tree, drinking some kind of fruity drink and soaking up the sun.....maybe some day.
There is such beauty in this world that most of us only get a glimps of, this is why making your dreams come true is so important.

    Thanks for listening,
    Debi DeSantis

Author Morgan Lawrence with The Streets Ran Red

About the Book: These are the true life stories of the men and woman I have associated with in my twenty year career as a Paramedic. While reading this book, you will get to feel and understand some of the pressures of working the street. The Streets Ran Red is an account of the lives of a pair of deputy sheriff paramedics and the supporting cast of medical experts who helped them save lives. This is a true account of a group of special individuals who make up a very special team. The accounts described in this book actually happened and the victims were real. The names and locations have been changed at the requests of some of the characters. These are the men and women who, on a daily basis protect and serve the public, from the perils of the real world. The golden hour of trauma begins when a person is injured and the clock starts to tic. This is when the trauma team of Doctors, nurses and paramedics step up to the line and save your life. Some of the actions in this book are graphic in nature and intense in reality. This is the nature of the job. Split second decisions have to be made if you are to survive. So before you ask, "Why" read on and the answer will become clear to you.

Author Lanaia Lee with Of Alantis

Lanaia Lee was born in 1957 to a Navy father and a schoolteacher mother who home-schooled her. In second grade, she was reading on a 4th grade level, so they moved her to a private school to enhance her education.

When she was nine years old, her mother died from a massive stroke. Because her father was rarely home, her grandmother, a professed black witch, gained custody.

When Lanaia was 14, her grandmother abandoned her, and she landed in foster care where she had four different sets of foster parents within a year, because she kept running away to avoid men who attempted to molest her.  At age fifteen, she went to boarding school on her dad's GI Bill. She graduated in her junior year after which she drifted, living with various people with neither a family nor a home. At eighteen, she married and divorced having three miscarriages. By nineteen, she began working in management for convenient stores and restaurant chains.

She remarried at age 30, then had a stillborn daughter a year later. Five years later, her husband left her for a seventeen-year-old. She filed bankruptcy, and one month later suffered a massive stroke, which, after seven months in the hospital, put her in a wheelchair.

The next two years involved intensive physical therapy, but she would never walk again. She took the step of finding work to help her rehabilitation. She found employment at vocational trades where she met my soul mate, David, also in a wheelchair from a motorcycle wreck he sustained in 1984. They married in 1992 and are still happily married.

They, too, lost two children due to her disease, erratic hypertension. She and her husband live independently, and she still drives.

In 2001, David dared her to write a poem. Out of curiosity, she posted it in an online poetry forum. The feedback was so positive, she kept writing. At first, she wrote just poems, then short stories and finally novels. All of her work is typed one-handed because of her disabilities.

Lanaia gives credit to the grace of God which has helped her overcome immense adversity, hold her head high, and she claims she won't quit until she hits the best seller list.
     professed black witch, gained custody.

    Of Atlantis

    the first of a

    five-book fantasy series.

    Synopsis of Book One

Of Atlantis is an epic fantasy novel based upon the king of Atlantis known as Archimedes.  Archimedes is blessed with a source of untapped power - a power to heal and a power to destroy. His mother, Cheris, trusts this power, but his father, King Lionus fears it, making him suspicious and distrustful of the young prince, his only son.

In this first book of five, we follow King Lionus as he returns victorious from yet another war among the countries of the continent of Atlantis.  He has been led to believe a false tale of his wife's infidelity and turns against her, driving him slowly into debauchery and decline.  Loyal to the end, Cheris, endures his alienation and resentment while nurturing her son, Archimedes, from his childhood until he is crowned king, marries and has children of his own. Cheris, accepts her celibate and loveless marriage out of a duty to her subjects and to Archimedes, her only child who she values more than life itself.

When Uric, a trusted advisor to King Lionus proves to be Archimedes' archenemy, political turmoil ensues and the constant threat of war could tear Atlantis apart and bring devastation to mankind. Uric, too, has tremendous powers but those powers must be continually fed or he will die.  He knows and covets the true strength of the enduring powers of Archimedes who has long suspected Uric's evil tendencies.  Eventually, Archimedes will come face to face with Uric's demonic character – but who will survive to play instrumental roles in major historical events through the centures?

1st author of the night is:

Gloria Teague with SATURDAY NIGHT COCOA FUDGE.

I'm proud to tell everyone that my story, Her Promise, will be in the January issue of The Odd Mind!
    Gloria

When I was a little red-haired girl I used to live in what was to become known as "The Zone", a place never to hear the voice of Rod Serling, see the profile of Alfred Hitchcock, or feel the jet-stream of a passing super hero, but a blend of all of the above. In "The Zone" I sang with Alvin and the other Chipmunks, rode with the Lone Ranger on my trusty stick horse, and wore my mother's voluminous half slip on my head, visualizing it as long golden tresses sure to capture the eye and heart of my prince. I was born in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains into the most wondrous, crazy family ever to bless a child. My family told me that my imagination could be my best friend. I've never had any reason to dispute that since it's helped me to cope with life's bumps and bruises. It's even boosted my checking account a few times. I've had over four dozen short stories published in national magazines, as well as serial and holiday stories published in regional newspapers. I have a short story published in the anthology Shades of Tulsa and I'm a contributing author to Book Marketing A to Z. In 2004 I won first place for a short story submitted to the OWFI conference contest in the confession category. I won first place in the America Nostalgia Prose category at the OWFI conference in May, 2005 for a short story created from a chapter in Saturday Night Cocoa Fudge. I won prizes for poetry and a Sci-Fi book in OWFI writing contest in 2008. It is my pleasure to be a member of Tulsa Nightwriters and have the honor of being the editor of NightScripts, the organization's newsletter. I'm also a member of Oklahoma Writers' Federation, Inc. (OWFI).

    Synop:

SATURDAY NIGHT COCOA FUDGE is a coming-of-age story of not only a freckled-faced girl of the 1950s in east Tennessee but the maturation of the women of my family. This book isn't about a sugar-sweet mother and grandmother, nor is it about an unscrupulous family that crippled me emotionally. Rather it's about sweetly flawed women who taught me what I was meant to be and what I was not meant to be. Our neck of the woods was filled with folklore, superstition, and mystical ideas. My grandmother believed and practiced most of these, passing them onto the next generation. My world was populated with strange relatives, quirky neighbors and mysterious bible verses that could stop the flow of blood. Being a member of this bizarre family made life worth living. These people were so fiercely loyal in their love for me, for each other, I felt they deserved to have their story told.
